I was grateful today just to have a day to relax and then it got better when my brother sent me this picture. It won’t be the same without Grandpa but I’m still thankful that I’ll soon see the loved ones I do have. 🕯 225/366

How is everyone this weekend? Cloudy here in the Shuswap, but the Fall colors are amazing! Hubby is sick in bed with a cold and bad cough. He’s been sipping on a special throat tea I made and home made broth. Even though it’s dreary out and sickness inside I must find my joy, which isn’t hard... I thank God for a million little things! Especially my craftroom and the gift of creativity.

I’m so thankful for my in-laws who sent me a beautiful orchid and such kind words of comfort. I’m also thankful for my husband who picked up the chocolate I had been craving today. No doubt in my mind, I married into some fantastic family. 💖 224/366

I had almost forgot that yesterday I got a free coffee to start my day, then drank it and forgot to photo once again. So it’s this morning coffee that reminded me of yesterday’s free little bonus. Also, I like the little play of shadows in this picture. ☕️ 223/366

Today was Club day at our school. Our entire school participates in club days once a month. Kids picked different clubs and are mixed k-6 in their groups. We stay in the same club all year and build an extended family. Myself and another teacher run the STEM club. We had different Halloween STEM challenges set up today. One was to use only garland and the green cotton web to suspend a web, between two IKEA stools, that could hold a large spider. This is what my son and I came up with during our Club afternoon.

Yesterday was a slow, rough start. I woke up from one of those chasing/attacking nightmares, thinking it was Saturday morning but realistically I was running 30 minutes later than normal for a Thursday. Talk about being salty but one favorite moment was when a sweet little girl gave me the clingiest hug I’ve had in a long time. I’m pretty sure it was the braid, she thought I was Rapunzel. 🤗 222/366

Grade Two writing ✍️ before corrections. Students are encouraged to write independently sounding words out, referring to class dictionaries and/or using thematic vocabulary around the classroom. Students then use a success criteria to double check sentences begin with capital letters, there is correct punctuation, finger space and that letters are not « floating » off the lines. We are currently working on correct sentence structure (double checking pluriel, féminin et masculin with familiar words) and ensuring each sentence has a noun. We practice grammar as a whole class and then in small groups during our Daily 5 block. That way I can support different groups based on need and I can reteach if necessary....anyone else feel like there are so many grammar rules...like « the general rule is add an s to make it pluriel, but wait not if it ends in a s, x, or z, eau, au, eu...oh and animal becomes animaux. Don’t forget add an x to ou words, etc » 😆

The pink morning skies lately are so beautiful and refreshing to see, this is yesterday’s. It gives me a happy vibe to start the day. This rang true when I saw a note taped to my water bottle that my first patient of the day said I was terrific! 💕 221/366

I’m glad yesterday was just a good day. We did a crockpot recipe contest so over eating our delicious foods, we giggled at old pictures of the doctor. 😆 220/366

Tell me, what do you get when you drop a pumpkin?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ...you get... Squash! 😂 Jks!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Okay, okay. Enough with the corny pumpkin riddles😝
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead, let me tell you what you can expect from my page. Here, you’ll find a collection of squares, a photo-journal of sorts, about the ins and outs of how I am taking control of my mental health and shaping my happiness, one little square at a time. I’ll be sharing about what has worked for me and what has allowed me to push through some
of the darkest times of my life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All of this in the hopes that my experience will inspire your own journey to well-being, that leading by example will encourage you to feel more positive, and that there is something worthwhile in this world to become and to do.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who or what inspires you the most on your journey to well-being?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Drop a comment ⬇️below⬇️ - I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Yesterday I felt a little uneasy at work, that I could start to cry at any given moment in remembrance of my grandfather. I found strength as the day grew and overall wasn’t a bad day. But what I’m grateful for are the patients who show me history, not only of their own personal journeys but of a generation as a whole. Sometimes I just find a nugget of peace in patients. 🙏🏻 219/366

We had our big Thanksgiving Day dinner yesterday, so today it’s all about quiet time! 🤫 My oldest asked to play with playdough and our playscapes. I know I’ve posted before, but these are well loved in our house and I love that they are both Canadian 🇨🇦 small companies run by mom’s and educators. The boys have been playing for over an hour which has given me time to relax. 😌 #thankful

I LOVE capturing events but editing my photos with @lightroom is the cherry on top. Want to see what this image looked like before I edited it? Swipe left!!

Today I’m grateful for a husband who voluntarily went out to get my favorite breakfast sandwich just to make me smile. And that stitching a bracelet helps to ease my mind. 🥴 217/366

Loose parts totally have a place outside of Kindergarten. Leave them out and have your students create little small world stories. They can build the settings and tell the beginning, middle and end using different scenes. In my class I have these huge wooden frames that we like to use. Depending on the season I have different place mats and fabric students can use as the backdrop. I leave out a variety of loose part materials, as well as thematic vocabulary and/or sentence starters we are currently using. We are also learning how to document our work using either iPads or through writing to eventually create classroom books.

On our fall table:
🍂sunflowers 🍂felt leaves
🍂plastic oak and maple leaves 🍂cinnamon sticks
🍂pumpkins; plastic and mini real ones
🍂mini pompoms 🍂popsicle sticks 🍂wooden curtain rod circle clips
🍂harvest corn
🍂rocks modpodged with forest animals
🍂wooden people both unpainted and painted

Any of my upper grades like to use loose parts in their classroom? I’d love to hear your uses. 🧡

You know those moments when anyone at all asks if you’re okay and you tear up before the question has fully left their mouth? That was Friday. I teetered my way through bouts of anxiety and full blown sadness. By the afternoon I legitimately felt emotionally sore. So the most I could pull from my gratitude is that I’m happy to be alive and well; that I’m not a robot and although we all hurt at times, we can better know and appreciate true peace and happiness. ❤️ 216/366
